Squaredy Cats are you

Squaredy Cats are you, and you are Squaredy Cats.

While all Squaredy Cats are about you, your personality, your habits, hobbies, fears, loves, and style, we realized we hadn't made a Squaredy Cat to say specifically that: You are you. You have no second thoughts that you are you. You are proud of you. You are happy to be you. You are not squared to be yourself. Not squared to be me. Wear it proud.

Got to be real

Squaredy Cats "GOT to be real!"

It was a bit of a challenge to put an image to this phrase at first, but then we realized it really shouldn't be. Being real is being yourself. We decided a simple cat is best. The color of blue jeans. No nonsense. And she's not 'hiding" behind sunglasses. She's lifted them so you can see her eyes. That's real :)

Hippity hop

This one was based on "not squared to play vinyl," but was updated for all our headphone-wearing friends who appreciate a bass beat.

Born to ride

We liked the way this one transcends young and older with two meanings. For young kids riding a bike can be a traumatic learning experience. Remember falling of, and scraping your hands? Anyone old enough may recognize that a bandanna means this Squaredy Cat might actually ride a motorcycle. Be careful on those things, and keep your eyes out for their safety as well.

Dance, Dance, Dance!

Dance, Squaredy Cat, dance!

In hindsight, maybe it would have been fun to give this cat two left feet. Then again, maybe that's a new idea! I'm not sure what the flower is for. Maybe I was thinking of Hawai'i. What a beautiful place! And beautiful things make me want to dance. What makes you want to dance?

Can you take the heat?

Don't be squared to be the center of attention.

Some of us shy away from the spotlight. It's just too much pressure. But some of us shine brighter when the spotlight is on us. This one is for everyone who can not only keep their composure when they are the center of attention, but also keep a captivated audience!

We changed our stripes

Our first tiger Squaredy Cat.

We tried in our first designs to do a tiger-striped Squaredy Cat, but we originally set ourselves up with too many restrictions. The one linked here was our very first Squaredy Cat design, and he had very basic stripes. Early on we intended to work only with symmetry, and simple expressions. After designing more than 50 we decided they were more fun and playful when we broke our own rules.
Since our first cat we've designed so many we've lost count! It's got to be almost 100 by now. We'll have to check when we're feeling less wild and crazy ;)

Bee ironic with puns

Could it bee a typo?

I don't know how we didn't come up with this one sooner. The Spelling Bee has become so popular in recent years. We're glad it's cool again to be smart; but it's important to have humor. We hope you don't hold it against us that this pun was used in such an ironic way, it almost seems as if we're making fun of intelligence. That's not the intention. We swear it's not a typo, either ;)

Peanut butter jelly time!

Squaredy Cat in a sticky situation ;)

Om nom nom! Everybody likes PB&J, right? The cat was intentionally colored orange to resemble peanut butter so the purple would instantly look like jelly. Don't you just love when you pack a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and the jelly goes through the bread? /s
Here's the solution: Spread peanut butter on both slices of bread, and put the jelly in between! The peanut butter protects the bread from the squishy, sticky purple attack! :)

Gimme a S-Q-U-A-R-E-D-Y-C-A-T!

Show Squaredy spirit :)

Another from the late 2009 set. We really like the way pink and blue work together, but we got the idea after it was designed, to think about doing custom school spirit cats. If you'd like to see your school colors, post the name of your school and colors to our Facebook Wall; and have at least 5 of your classmates comment in support. We'll post a cat in your colors soon after :)

Hamlet it up

Squaredy Cats are 2B. There is no question ;)

This was one from a set we created toward the end of 2009. It looks really simple, but we revised the "comedy & tragedy" cat skull masks over and over. The colors came easy. Blue = sad, Pink = happy. We wanted the masks to resemble Hamlet holding his friend's skull.

Order in, order up

Sometimes it makes sense to just stay in and snuggle up.

This Squaredy Cat seemed so simple at first, and we decided to add the chop sticks to evoke thoughts of delicious sushi (which cats LOVE!) and yummy Chinese food. Well, the chop sticks eventually made their way into the paws of another cat that should have had them in the first place. The colors are very important, but the subtle props are what give each cat their individual character.
The "not squared to order take-out" image was posted on our Facebook yesterday with the question, "What's your favorite take-out or delivery food?" We got so many answers, and were happy to read them all. We love the fans, and appreciate all the support, including all the wall posts we get :)
Yes, we also love sushi, pizza, Chinese, Thai, Indian and Italian food!

And, so it vegans…

Each of the Squaredy Cats is representational of what they are not "squared" of in one way or another. Sometimes it's ironic, sometimes it's silly, sometimes it's literal. This might be the first one that actually became an inanimate object. We might explore that. It's fun.
This was posted on our Facebook Fan Page yesterday, and I was glad to see nothing but positive responses. I'm personally not vegan, but I can respect it enough to know that it's a difficult choice to defend when people think you're high-and-mighty about it. Keep doing what you do. Don't let anyone's criticism stop you from living your choices your way.

Stand out and blend in

Don't hide in your own gumball machine too long.

This was the first Squaredy Cat where we dared to design the shape in a circle. We figured that we can take the square for granted, and design around that when necessary. This design opened doors for a lot of new designs that we've already shown you, and many more that are yet to be displayed.
It's ironic that this one stood out so much early on considering it's justifying your blending in. Just don't use "blending in" as a way to hide. You can blend in and stand out at the same time!

Bubble, bubble, no toil or trouble

Every day is bubblegum day with Squaredy Cats!

We'd like to welcome all the new fans to the Squaredy Cats Facebook Fan Page that found their way over from the bubblegum sites :)
Blow your bubbles as big as you want!

Life gives you lemons, make a sour face

This is still one from the bubblegum machine theme. Sour candy is so fun and popular, we had to try one with a sour face. It feels a little awkward, but who ever said life is easy? When life gives you lemons you can make lemonade if you want; but no one will blame you if you just make a sour face.

Sticky situation

My gum blow'd up.

When we first heard we would be getting our Squaredy Cats into vending machines as stickers we were inspired to do some bubblegum themed cats. This was the first :)  *POP*

This is the Squaredy Cat we use on our blog banner.

This cat was created as part of a series for computer users, young, and old. Anyone who's been using a computer since they were kids, and anyone who's getting introduced for the first time can appreciate this one.
The blog is the new diary. Let people know what you think on your blog. Share us if you like ;)
