May the 4th is Star Wars Day :)

May the 4th be with you! Always :)

Star Wars characters as Squaredy Cats. Apologies to George Lucas and Lucasfilm. Used in admiration and parody only. No commercial intention or purpose.

May The Fourth Be With You!

Happy National Star Wars Day from Squaredy Cats (with apologies to George Lucas)! We always wanted to make some Star Wars Squaredy Cats, and now we found the perfect excuse. Maybe we'll add some more to our "Fandom" collection down the line, but for now, here's the personification of Star Wars, Darth Vader himself (with apologies to David Prowse, James Earl Jones, Sebastian Shaw, Hayden Christensen and Jake Lloyd)!

Why so angrious?

This short photo essay was emailed to us from a professional photographer who happens to be a fan of Squaredy Cats and some other unknown thing called "Angry Birds." We LOLed!

Angry Birds meet Squaredy Cats!

"Hmm."

"Must be one o' those Squaredy Cat things I've been hearing about."

Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss!!!

We learned from our friends at Catsparella from their post today that it's Dr. Seuss' birthday! So, to celebrate, we made a Squaredy Cat in the hat ;)

Happy birthday Dr. Seuss! This is for you!

Imagine

We normally post Squaredy Cats to our blog on a different day because the blog feeds our Facebook page, but it doesn't make sense to hold on to this one. 30 Years ago today John Lennon was shot. He was about peace, individuality, sympathy, awareness, goodwill and conviction. His positive messages are just as strong today.

To make your most impossible dream come true, you must imagine it first.

Rest n peace, John Lennon.

This was posted today to Facebook, Tumblr, and TwitPic / Twitter. Spread the peace.

We're off to see the kitty

This is the last of the Halloween themed cats we did for the Facebook page's collection of 31 Days of Halloween. These Wizard of Oz themed Squaredy Cats were the most fun to design. Our favorite is the flying monkey. Which is yours?

More fun from Halloween

Here are a few more Squaredy Cats from our 31 Days of Halloween series we posted to our Facebook page.

We thought a few of the modern classics would be fun, so we did a Friday the 13th, a Ghostbusters, a Nightmare on Elm Street, and a zombie Squaredy Cat. You can find an older version of the zombie Squaredy Cat here and here, and also as a sticker in vending machines :)

We forgot to post on the blog during the month of October because we were posting 31 Days of Halloween throughout the month on the Squaredy Cats Facebook page.

We went with sets and individual homages to pop culture icons that relate in some way to Halloween. One lesser known group that we like is the GirlMonsters.

We designed a Squaredy Cat for each of the characters, Abby Cadaver, Betty Bones, DeMonica and Lilybat.

Oh, and here's the GirlMonsters Facebook page. Fan'em

Twinkle, twinkle, little vampire

What do you think about sparkling vampires?

You're a star

A Squaredy Cat as Paul Stanley, the Star Child from KISS.

This is the last of the KISS Squaredy Cats from our fandom collection. We had fun making them since KISS is so much fun. Some of the fans on the Facebook page didn't know who they are, but that's okay. The star child is about going after your dreams, and letting nothing stop you. That's what we stand for too! Do what you love, and be a star!

Ace Kitty

A Squaredy Cat as Ace Frehley.

Shock Me is one of Ace Frehley's most popular songs from KISS. The caption may seem a little awkward if you know how Squaredy Cats captions are supposed to work, but Ace Frehley is awkward too. Probably the most controversial member of KISS from the fact that he was in the band - out of the band - a member again - not a member - hired back - left again. His make-up is so much fun. We just KNEW it would look good on a Squaredy Cat.
See the other members of KISS, and more fandom Squaredy Cats on our Facebook page.

Cat's got your tongue

Gene Simmons as a Squaredy Cat.

As you've no doubt, already guessed, we've made all four original members of the iconic rock band, KISS into Squaredy Cats. You've already seen Peter Criss (Kiss' original cat), and we'll be uploading the other members sporadically. For the record, none of our "fandom" Squaredy Cats images will ever be for sale in any form - t-shirt, sticker, plush, or otherwise. These are just for fun, and we're always up to hearing your ideas for more.
Of the four KISS Squaredy Cats, Gene Simmons was probably the most fun to do. He's by far, the most outspoken member of the group, and his character is an extension of his personality. Aside from the "getting girls" side of Gene Simmons' reasons for being a rock star, he's very interested in positive messages. Much of his music says, "We did it, and you can too. Don't let them say you can't." We hope Squaredy Cats can be inspirational and motivational too. Don't let anyone say you can't do whatever it is you want to do! Look - a guy decided to dress up in a costume, and play rock and roll for a living, and he DID it. Your dream is not ridiculous. Get going, and BE IT!

Squaredy, I hear you calling…

A Squaredy Cat as Peter Criss, the original drummer from KISS.

We've already had suggestions and requests to make some of the "fandom" Squaredy Cats available for sale as pins or t-shirts, but we just can't do it. Sorry, folks. These are just for fun.
We were genuinely surprised that there were so few who recognized this famous cat. Maybe it's a sign of the times that this was confused with Lady Gaga? Either way, we have three more of the KISS cats coming. Maybe the other members will be more easily recognized. Rock on, Squaredy Cats fans :)

We promise not to vanish

The Cheshire Squaredy Cat. Apologies to Lewis Carroll.

We thought it would be fun to start a "fandom" tag for our blog and a "fandom" photo album for our Facebook page. There are plenty of pop culture and sub-culture icons that we and our fans would love to see as Squaredy Cats. We can't sell any of the images, but we can appreciate the ability to show homage to those icons that inspire us. We hope you liked our Squaredy Cats version of the Cheshire Cat; but unlike the Lewis Carroll character from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland we don't intend to disappear ;)

We're watching you

Inspired by the original Sherlock Holmes costume, this curious Squaredy Cat was made to combine the old with the new. We're curious to know which cats you like, so we like to try different looks to see what you react to. We're watching and listening. Leave comments on the Squaredy Cats Blog or on the Squaredy Cats Facebook page.

Super-Duper

What a great day to get outside! It's been so cold lately. Enjoy the beautiful weather, and get some fresh air. Squaredy Cats and the internet will still be here when you get back ;)

Get LOST!

Is John Locke a Squaredy Cat?

We thought it would be fun to try some fandom Squaredy Cats (for the internet collection only). The premier of the final season of LOST was last night, so we did this yesterday, and posted it to the Squaredy Cats Facebook page. Surprisingly, it seems the younger fans are not so into LOST. Well, the rest of us are not squared to show our support to a John Locke lookalike. The numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42 have real meaning for us :)
